Recycling - Bottle People

SPCA

On Wednesday the 24th of November, Jackie from the New Plymouth SPCA came and talked to us about what the needs are of animals, what we can do to help and what the SPCA does. On Thursday Room 9 visited the SPCA to see what goes on behind the scenes. We saw all the kittens, cats, puppies, dogs, rabbits and the chicken that were being looked after until they had a new home. If we could have, we would have taken them home. The bus driver did tell Miss Simpson to check for any wiggling clothing! Remember if you want a new pet to visit the SPCA or you can help by dropping off pet food, old blankets or old toys for the animals to play with.

Origami

Today some Japanese college students came and taught us some origami. We got put into five groups and a student came with us. We made different and unique things. We made planes, boxes, samari hats, balloons, cranes and star boxes. It was fun.

On Monday the 30 of August, Emily and Emily sold oodles of cupcakes at school to raise money for the S.P.C.A. The cupcakes were so popular that they sold out very quickly. Thank you to everyone who supported the cause. Well done Emily and Emily, it was an awesome idea and you worked hard to achieve such a great result.

Cross Country Photos

Cross Country 2010

On Tuesday the 24 of August we all took part in our school cross country. The kids tried their hardest to finish and there were lots of kids puffing at the end. Mums and Dads were cheering us all on. Oodles of children needed a drink after the sprint to the finish line! At the end we were all winners.

Richie McCaw comes to Oakura School!

09 June 2010

Today we walked down to Shearer Reserve to help the council plant trees. There were a lot of trees to plant. It was quite hard to dig the holes as there were a lot of stones in the ground. When we had finished, it looked great! Check out our photos in the slide below.
